Before you use Peekaboo
- Peekaboo is for health professionals using a supported iPad and the released instructions.
- At initial launch, a new assessment needs a valid Apple subscription entitlement. Direct organisation licences are a future offering.
- Offline access ends at the earlier of the verified renewal/expiry date or 30 days after the last successful online licence check. Reconnect in time to verify access.
- Apple manages individual subscription billing; IDCP handles app support and organisation licences.
This overview is a guide to the full terms below. It does not replace the applicable licence or your legal rights.
Provider, scope and agreement
IDCP Scotland Limited, registered in Scotland (SC666120), 77 Torrisdale Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G42 8PW. Contact Support@idcpscotland.co.uk.
These are IDCP’s supplementary terms for Peekaboo Vision, listed on the App Store as “Peekaboo Vision - New”, supplied as iPad software for health professionals in Great Britain. Patients are assessment subjects, not intended independent operators. IDCP does not supply the iPad or physical accessories.
For an App Store download, the licence is the Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement unless the listing presents a valid custom licence instead. This release uses the standard agreement. These supplementary terms govern IDCP commitments only to the extent validly incorporated into the applicable purchase or licence contract. They do not replace Apple’s usage rules or override mandatory law. We will make the applicable terms available before contracting; visiting this page alone does not buy a licence.
Also read our app privacy notice, subscription and cancellation policy, support and complaints policy and, for direct organisation access, organisation licence terms.
Intended use and professional responsibilities
Peekaboo Vision administers a high-contrast grating visual-acuity assessment for infants, young children and older patients with special needs who cannot perform traditional acuity tests. It provides an estimated acuity value for professional interpretation to support screening and further investigation. It does not diagnose a disease, set a referral threshold or make an automatic referral decision.
Use only the released version, approved instructions, supported iPad/iPadOS configuration and specified assessment conditions. Maintain the required viewing distance and appropriate patient engagement. Consider the result with other relevant findings; do not assume equivalence with another acuity test or rely on an incomplete, unexpected or unreliable result. Contact support about suspected malfunction. These user responsibilities do not remove IDCP’s applicable product duties.
Licence and acceptable app use
Use the app within the scope of the applicable Apple agreement or accepted organisation licence. Do not share a licence grant across unauthorised installations, exceed an agreed device count, bypass entitlement checks, tamper with signatures or manipulate the device clock to extend access. Do not copy, sublicense or reverse engineer the software except as expressly permitted by the applicable licence or law. An organisation must authorise and train its users and protect its installation and licence credentials.
New App Store listing
Peekaboo Vision - New is a separate App Store listing from the earlier free NHS Peekaboo app. The earlier app had no paid unlocks. Downloading or using the earlier app does not provide a subscription to this listing. Review the monthly or annual Apple subscription offer before purchasing access.
Individual subscriptions and prices
The individual Great Britain subscription prices are £6.99 per month and £59.99 per year, including any applicable taxes. Annual payment is charged as one yearly amount. Each plan renews automatically for the same billing period unless cancelled under the applicable Apple arrangements. Before subscribing, check the published supported-device list and instructions, internet requirements for purchase and entitlement refresh, and the expiry limitations below. The Apple purchase screen must show the actual total payable, including applicable taxes, billing period and renewal conditions before you confirm. Both plans provide access to the assessment functionality for the paid period, with maintenance and support under the issued support policy; they are alternative billing periods, not two purchases required together. No trial or introductory offer is promised.
Apple handles billing and account-based purchase entitlements. This is not a requirement for a separate individual subscription on every organisation iPad. Organisation grants are a different access route. Confirm the purchase account and any permitted device use under the applicable Apple usage rules. Read the subscription and cancellation policy for management, restoration and refunds.
Access, offline use and expiry
At the initial launch, a new assessment requires a current verified Apple subscription entitlement. Organisation access is not offered for direct purchase at launch. Offline access runs only to the earlier of the verified paid-through or signed expiry and 30 days after the last successful online licence check. An annual subscription still requires a successful online check at least every 30 days. A connection alone is not sufficient: the licence must be successfully verified. A scheduled renewal or a payment receipt alone does not update an offline entitlement: reconnect to verify renewal, or import a renewed organisation grant. Keep the iPad date and time correct.
Entitlement changes must not interrupt an assessment already started or prevent access to its completed result within that session. Do not start another assessment without valid access. An organisation licence is installation-bound and is not automatically transferable to a replacement device.
Support, maintenance and changes
IDCP provides app support through Support@idcpscotland.co.uk under the support and complaints policy. Apple is not responsible for providing IDCP’s app maintenance or clinical support. Keep the app and iPadOS within the supported configuration and apply necessary updates following the released instructions.
We may issue fixes and necessary security, safety or compatibility changes. We will communicate material effects and applicable choices. We will not retrospectively change a paid price or remove mandatory remedies. Planned withdrawal follows the stated support policy; a safety issue or external platform change may require earlier protective action with appropriate notice and mitigation.
Privacy and confidentiality
Read the app privacy notice. Patient responses and results are processed temporarily on the iPad under the confirmed product design. Apple purchases, platform information and IDCP licence/support records are separate. Your organisation controls any clinical record it creates outside the app. Do not send identifiable patient information with a routine support or licensing request.
Problems, cancellation and remedies
Report an app fault promptly with the version, iPad model, iPadOS version and steps to reproduce it. For an Apple-billed purchase, Apple’s cancellation/refund route applies alongside your applicable rights. IDCP will assist with product issues and its own responsibilities. Organisation orders use their agreed termination and remedy arrangements. A blanket exclusion of refunds does not apply.
Responsibility and legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Mandatory rights and remedies, including applicable consumer rights for digital content and services, are preserved.
The app supports professional assessment and does not guarantee a particular clinical outcome. Follow the intended use and instructions. Responsibility for a fault or loss depends on the contract and applicable law; professional interpretation does not excuse a defective product or remove IDCP’s legal obligations. These supplementary terms do not impose a separate financial liability cap on individual users or waive rights under the applicable Apple licence.
Law, disputes and updates
IDCP’s supplementary terms use Scots law and non-exclusive Scottish jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections and any governing-law terms of the applicable Apple agreement. Contact support first if you wish, without giving up legal remedies. Material contract changes require the notice, agreement and choices applicable to the existing contract and law. Issued versions will identify their effective date; necessary evidence of accepted earlier terms is retained.
