Rooted in clinical practice.
Peekaboo Vision grew from work by the Medical Devices Unit at NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the Glasgow Centre for Ophthalmic Research, bringing clinical and technical expertise together.
INNOVATION WITH PEOPLE IN MIND
Meet Peekaboo Vision. Visual acuity assessment that starts with a look.
An iPad app for health professionals working with infants, young children and patients who cannot complete traditional acuity tests.

A DIFFERENT STARTING POINT
A look towards a striped target can open up a different approach to acuity assessment.
Peekaboo brings high-contrast grating stimuli, visual rewards and adjustable assessment settings together on an iPad. It gives health professionals a practical way to engage patients who cannot complete traditional acuity tests.

BUILT AROUND THE RESPONSE
Grating targets create the task. Sound and animation options help keep the assessment engaging. The health professional stays at the centre of the process.

From NHS development and early research to continued development and access through IDCP Scotland.
Peekaboo Vision grew from work by the Medical Devices Unit at NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the Glasgow Centre for Ophthalmic Research, bringing clinical and technical expertise together.
Early prototype work explored tablet-based acuity assessment. Related research investigated the photometric characteristics of tablet screens for high-contrast acuity testing.
Founded in Glasgow with a focus on medical technology, ophthalmology and digital health, IDCP Scotland connects engineering development with the needs of clinical practice.
IDCP Scotland continues the app’s development and brings it to health professionals across Great Britain, with updated access arrangements, organisation licensing and direct product support.
We acknowledge the clinicians, researchers and technical contributors behind Peekaboo’s original development. Historical publications describe the work studied at that time; current use follows the applicable release instructions.
THE COMPANY BEHIND THE NEXT CHAPTER

IDCP Scotland develops medical technology with a particular focus on ophthalmology and digital health.
Founded in 2020, our work brings engineering and clinical perspectives together. We focus on tools that fit the way health professionals work, with practical design and clear support at the heart of development.
With Peekaboo Vision, we are building on the original clinical and research work to support the app’s next chapter.
